Flying out of Thailand is about to become more expensive, Bangkok Post reports.
From 20 June 2026, the passenger service charge on international departures will rise from 730 baht to 1,120 baht at six major airports operated by Airports of Thailand. The increase applies to Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang, Phuket, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
The 53 percent hike will affect all international travellers, including thousands of visitors and long-stay residents from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The fee is included in the ticket price. Critics question whether passengers will see better services in return, while Airports of Thailand says the additional revenue will fund airport expansion projects, including a new South Terminal at Suvarnabhumi.
